Kevin and I are lifelong residents of the Trinity area and our story starts in a Trinity High School Horticulture Class. We became forever friends and eventually married in 2003 after I graduated from Salem College with, of all things, a BA in Philosophy and BA in Religion. We always had a deep appreciation for American and English history, architecture and gardens. But it was not until we rented our first little cottage with very little money that I began to redesign thrift store finds into beautiful affordable decor for our home that I found out my true passion: creating carefully curated home design that brings together beautifully elegant English gardens and simple utilitarian American farmhouse styles. Fast forward to 2011, we decided to take the plunge and open our own small shop, Spade and Broom. We are assisted by Geni Carico and Ken Carico who lend their creative designing talent, fix-it all knowledge, green thumb, and knack for finding interesting treasures. We search estate sales, auctions, thrift stores, yard sales, and even the sides of the road to find the unique items to be re-imagined and re-purposed and included into uniquely you home design. We hope you will stop by for a visit!
